Back to the Lake of the West.
The Spring waters are so clear and
Green they might be freshly painted.
The clouds of perfume are sweeter
Than can be imagined. In the
Gentle East wind the petals
Fall like grains of rice."

Galen and I stayed for three weeks in Hangzhou, using it as our last jumping-off point for seeing other cities in Zhejiang province. All in all, we visited Ningbo, Chenghua, Fuyang, Taizhou (Huangyan), Wenzhou, and Taishun county. We also found ourselves invited to Dachen Island for two lovely days of seafood luxury. A friend of a friend who happens to be not only a Party official, but also a manufacturer of Jesus figurines and other tchotchkes, hosted us in his Taizhou neighborhood and then boated us all off to Dachen, a beautiful island with secluded fishing villages and vestigial KMT bunkers.

There are too many experiences to recount in one blog post alone--suffice to say that the end of our trip was perhaps the best time we could have asked for.
